Description

Kailan (Latin: mini bok choy) is a short green leafy vegetable with green leaves and white to light green leafed stem. The vegetable originates from China. Bok choy stalks are juicy and the taste seems a bit in the direction of cabbage. The vegetable is sweet and pungent. The leaves have a fairly soft taste. Bok choy is known in Suriname as Kailan. The leaves are usually used in a dish, the vegetable can be steamed or boiled in the pot. The most important nutrients are calcium, fiber, folic acid, iron and vitamins A and C.
